Born in Schenectady, this pioneering chemist and physicist became the first women to work as a research scientist at General Electric. During her 40-year career, she became the first woman to earn a doctorate in physics from Cambridge University, invented "invisible" non-reflective glass, and paved the way for generations of women in science research.
