David Smith discusses the next Concerts in the Village presentation, a program including the virtuosic Oboe Concerto of Julius Reitz (c. 1856), with Karen Hosmer, principal oboe of the Albany Symphony Orchestra, the exciting Third Symphony (1847) of French composer and pianist Louise Farrenc, a very well-known pianist, teacher and composer, and Beethoven’s Seventh (1811/12) – so well summarized by Wagner as “the apotheosis of dance.”
