Ric Orlando's TV Kitchen

Ric Orlando's TV Kitchen brings "Clean Food" to your
table with insightful and entertaining cooking.

"We want clean food."

Guided by these words, Ric Orlando brings an inspired blend of lust for life, irreverent humor, environmental concern, and a nationally renowned cooking prowess to his role as host of a new 13-episode public television series entitled Ric Orlando's TV Kitchen.

The series intends to fill a significant void in contemporary TV cooking shows by answering the question: "How do you prepare excellent tasting and exciting food using 'clean' food?" That is, using ingredients that are pure, healthy, organic and environmentally sustainable. Each 30-minute episode provides provocative insights into the effects of our food choices on our culture, environment, health and lifestyle.

The series bridges the gap that currently exists between the gourmet and health food worlds. Ric shows viewers that eating healthy food is not a depressing experience when it is prepared well. And that, in fact, healthy food can be a downright spiritual and sensual experience! He brings a teacher's sensibility to his role as series host, selecting recipes that can educate viewers about nutrition and environmental issues-in addition to teaching them how to prepare out-of-this-world dishes. He prepares dishes using the best seasonal ingredients, not the most expensive. And he definitely loves to make dishes that allow eating with fingers! Ric introduces viewers to such concepts as sustainable seafood, free-range grazing, isoflavones, and antioxidants, while making the learning experience fun and accessible.

Culinary influences on the series' featured recipes include Mediterranean, Caribbean, Native American, South American, and Southeast Asian traditions. Recipes selected are healthy in a traditional way, shunning fads and low-fat cookery for real ingredients, sustainable resources, and whole foods.

What Ric hopes to inspire in this series is the simple realization that flavor is paramount and that we can create really flavorful food that is also "clean." He has no doubt that when this is accomplished, family and friends will come along for the ride.
