Our Hometown Saratoga Springs
WMHT's Our Hometown Saratoga Springs
is comprised of several short videos on different places and events
around the town, offering a local angle on what Saratoga residents feel
make their community a special place to live.
The fourth program in WMHT's Our Hometown series, Our Hometown Saratoga Springs explores the city's historic and landmark sites, parks and other outdoor points of interest, and many institutions that lend themselves to the cultural and educational make up of the community. The program uses the voices and video cameras of Saratoga locals to truly capture what residents believe are the unique elements of their 'hometown'. In July 2003, residents of Saratoga Springs, New York ventured out with
their video cameras to capture the essence of this historic and vibrant
city. They share their stories about the Yaddo Gardens, the Congress
Park carousel, unsolved mysteries, Spit & Spat, Caffe Lena,
soaring, Broadway, the Gideon Putnam, polo, ghosts, Saratoga Lake, the
Skateboarding Park, Ardis Hughes, and, of course ... horses, including a
feature on Funny Cide.
Hosted by Saratoga Springs resident Dave Povero, senior producer/director at WMHT, the program also includes explanations by each videographer detailing why their video subject reflects the true essence of Saratoga. Mary Hunt of Troy is the associate producer. Marianne Potter of Schenectady serves as executive producer. This production was funded in part by Stewart's Shops, Witt Construction, Saratoga Seminars and the Adirondack Trust Company and in partnership with the Saratogian. Other cities featured in WMHT's Our Hometown project include Glens Falls, Poughkeepsie and Pittsfield, MA.
