Health Link Clip 'n Carry - Making a Diagnosis of Autism
A hallmark of autism is difficulty with social interactions. that's why, when making a diagnosis the national institutes of health says,  doctors look for an impaired ability to make friends with other children.. Doctors will also check to see if the child has an impaired ability to begin or sustain a conversation. They will also check for a lack or impairment of imaginative and social play.  Many children with autism will rock or exhibit other repetitive actions or exhibit an unusual use of language, these are other factors going into a diagnosis. These children may also show a preoccupation with certain objects or subjects. And watch out if you try to change their routines.
