Troy Residents Shared Their Stories for 'Our Town: Troy'

Volunteers from Troy attended our kick-off informational meeting February 28, 2012We had a great turnout at our informational meeting for 'Our Town: Troy' at the Arts Center for the Capital Region. Participants have their assignment: to capture video that answers the question, 'What is special about Troy?' The resulting video will capture the personalities, businesses, activities and history of the area, giving viewers a sense of what it truly means to live in Troy. From the parks to the churches to the artists and organizations making a difference, these stories will collectively convey the heart and soul of the community. 'Our Town: Troy' will premiere June 14 at 7:30pm on WMHT.

WMHT is currently looking for volunteer storytellers who can use their own cameras to shoot video that answers the question, 'What is special about Hudson, NY?' The resulting video will capture the personalities, businesses, activities and history of the area, giving viewers a sense of what it truly means to live in Hudson. From the parks to the churches to the artists and organizations making a difference, these stories will collectively convey the heart and soul of the community. Interested participants should contact producer Joanne Durfee no later than March 31, 2011 to confirm story ideas and set up an interview for April 5 or 6. Call (518) 880-3459 or send an e-mail.

We're Rolling...in Bethlehem

Residents Work on 'Our Town: Bethlehem'On December 15 and 16, a crew from WMHT set up a satellite studio at NYSARC, Inc., located in Delmar, NY. I interviewed Bethlehem residents to find out what makes their town a special place to live in. Nearly 50 community members are serving as volunteer storytellers for the documentary 'Our Town: Bethlehem.' The program will feature 31 stories as seen through the eyes and camera lenses of the people who call the town of Bethlehem home. 'Our Town: Bethlehem' will premiere on March 3, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. on WMHT-TV. In the meantime, please share your story, video and pictures of Bethlehem with us on our Facebook page. Thanks!

Lynch Literacy Academy on Monday, September 13 at 7 p.m.   The school is located at 55 Brandt Pl. in Amsterdam. Anyone interested in the production is invited to attend.
