Dinosaur Train: Free Educator Toolkit
The Dinosaur Train Educator Toolkit is perfect for teaching paleontology, life science and natural history to preschoolers. Each toolkit contains episode clips, music videos, lyric sheets, and PreK - Kindergarten appropriate lesson plans from the show. On the same form, you can sign up to receive a Dinosaur Train Nature Tracker poster!
2012 National STEM Video Game Challenge
Inspired by the 'Educate to Innovate Campaign,' President Obama’s initiative to promote a renewed focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education, the National STEM Video Game Challenge is a multi-year game design competition whose goal is to motivate interest in STEM learning among America’s youth by tapping into students’ natural passion for playing and making video games. Get Involved: The American Graduate Project
For middle school and high school teachers, WMHT: American Graduate is a community engagement project that is designed to drive widespread awareness in the community of the causes and ramifications of high dropout rate. The project also seeks to mobilize community members to actively support at-risk students and to promote or provide pathways to existing community resources. This local initiative is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting through the National Center for Media Engagement.

Bring Current Events & Global Issues Into the Classroom
'Assignment: The World' is a weekly video program for classrooms (3rd-8th grade) to learn about current events and global issues. It airs on Saturdays at 6 a.m. on WMHT-TV and is available online. Send an e-mail to education@wmht.org for the password.
Can Homework Hotline Help Your Students?
Homework Hotline is a live educational television show that airs Mon.-Thurs. at 5:30 p.m. on WMHT-TV. Students in grades 4-12 can Dial-a-Teacher for help by calling 1-888-986-2345 on those same days from 4-7 p.m. Questions in math, science, social studies, English and language arts welcomed.
Mission US: A Revolutionary Way to Learn History
Take young learners on a virtual adventure into American History with Mission US, a free, new interactive adventure game for grades 5-8.

VITAL New York 2.0 Coming Soon
VITAL NEW YORK is a free online library of digital media resources for the K-12 classroom presented by Thirteen/WNET. Featuring dynamic public television video and interactive content, this growing collection has over 60,000 registered New York users and is fully-aligned to the New York State Learning Standards.
New York State's public television stations are pleased to announce that over the coming months, VITAL NY will be going through a major upgrade in service and content that will benefit all users. This '2.0' version of VITAL NY will be powered by PBS Learning Media, a new national portal for public broadcasting content, yielding a dynamic new combination of all of the high quality multimedia resources and features you already utilize on VITAL, with an exciting new online environment and twice as much content. Electronic Field Trips
Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trips
'The War of 1812' will air on WMHT-TV on Thurs., Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. A generation after the Revolution, Americans were once again plunged into war with Great Britain. Why? Join Henry Clay, Tecumseh, Andrew Jackson, James Madison, and others as they struggle to determine what course the United States will take. A preview of the 2011-12 season is available here. Schools registered with Colonial Williamsburg have the right to make a tape of the program and keep it in perpetuity. Schools not registered with Colonial Williamsburg have fair use rights—use for 10 days and must erase within 45 days. Standards Correlations are provided here.
WMHT is pleased to offer schools in our area scholarships to the 2011-12 electronic field trips. Schools awarded scholarships will receive a unique User ID/password for each trip that you are participating in via e-mail from Colonial Williamsburg. Guidance and counsel is provided by WMHT’s Learning Services Advisory Committee, whose membership is made up of teachers, educational consultants, and other professionals working in the field.
