Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trips

Preview 'The Will of the People'This year's first electronic field trip from Colonial Williamsburg, 'The Will of the People,' will air on WMHT October 14 at 10 a.m. One of the most bitter presidential campaigns in U.S. history is part of a surprising lesson for a 21st Century student. Thomas Jefferson explains how negative campaigning, partisan politics, and contested elections have been part of our political system since the earliest days of the republic. A preview is available here. Schools registered with Colonial Williamsburg have the right to make a tape of the program and keep it in perpetuity. Schools not registered with Colonial Williamsburg have fair use rights—use for 10 days and must erase within 45 days. Standards Correlations are provided here.

By age four, children who live in underserved families will have heard 32 million fewer words than children living in professional families. In response to this word gap, Sesame Street presents the "What's the Word on the Street?" campaign, which aims to excite children and their caregivers about literacy and language.
