#citizenactive Intro

Posted by Eric Hoppel on

#citizenactive is a new web series from WMHT that is designed to help all of us better understand how our government is supposed to work. Here is a brief introduction to #citizenactive:

I have a long list of topics to explore. Next week, Ron Seyb of Skidmore College will help us understand why we have government, some different philosophies of government and why political scientists were surprised by the results of the 2016 presidential election.

Future topics include; why people aren’t voting and what we can do about it, how you can use the law to learn more about your government, why being a lobbyist isn’t such a bad thing and how an active citizen can fight city hall or even the state capitol.

What do you want to know about your government? I will do my best to answer your questions. I’m not going to take sides or try to figure out who stole whose campaign signs, but I will find an expert to help explain why things are the way they are. And maybe even what we can do to change them.
