Mentors Helping First-Generation College Students

Posted by WMHT Web Editor on

The steps required to prepare for, apply to, and finance a college education are challenging for all students, but they can be especially daunting when you’re the first person in your family to pursue higher education. Learn how the non-profit tnAchieves helps first generation college students prepare for higher learning in this in this video from American Graduate Day, a public media initiative designed to help communities combat the high school dropout crisis. tnAchieves helps students overcome challenges to accessing higher education opportunities through mentoring, scholarship opportunities, and advising, including helping students complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application.
