How We Got to Now

Posted by WMHT Web Editor on

This year, PBS debuted “How We Got to Now” with Steven Johnson, a six part documentary series that reveals the story behind the remarkable ideas that made modern life possible, the unsung heroes who brought them into the world and the unexpected and bizarre consequences each of these innovations triggered.

It is one of our favorite resources of 2014 – a PBS Staff Pick – for many reasons, not the least of which was because students had the opportunity to hear a live conversation on innovation with Johnson and PBS LearningMedia as the show was airing. Revisit this archived chat and offer your students an understanding of how simple ideas and inventions – from eyeglasses to refrigerators – have revolutionized the way humans interact with the world. Students will also learn steps they can take to become the next Albert Einstein or Thomas Edison! WATCH: http://to.pbs.org/1GRk787
