Celebrate Our Nation’s Capitol and Independence with WMHT

Posted by WMHT Web Editor

This 4th of July, people all around the country will celebrate independence in their own unique, local ways. But one thing everyone’s celebrations have in common is that they are rich with tradition and memories. We invite you to start a new tradition (or continue an old one!) by tuning in to WMHT for our annual A Capitol Fourth primetime special and follow the conversation on Twitter using #July4thPBS.

In preparation for the big day, get to know our nation’s capitol a little better by going on a virtual field trip of some of Washington, D.C.’s monuments and landmarks with this video from PBD Digital Studios which reminds us that “it’s ok to be smart!” Watch it with the children and students in your life to help them identify some of the sites they’ll see in the on-air special and in-person if they ever find themselves in D.C. They’ll love becoming tour guide experts and showing off their knowledge to their friends. So, go ahead…celebrate Independence Day and take a virtual tour of our nation’s capitol today!
