Art of Politics, Politics of Art
Michael Burns is worried about where we are as a nation. Not the usual right/left, red/blue kind of worry, but rather a concern that we don’t talk to each other anymore. Instead, we yell at each other. He would like to help us get back to a place where we can share ideas, striving for a common goal.
If you’ve been following the#citizenactive blog, you know that one person can effect great change. Just ask Aaron Mair or Chief Peter Volkmann. Michael’s idea was to create a one man show that you can see this week in Schenectady.
The debut performance of “Michael Burns Mansplains Politics (An Inconvenient Powerpoint)” is on Thursday, November 1st at 7PM at the Mopco Improv Theatre. The theatre is at 10 N. Jay Street in Schenectady. Follow the link for tickets or call 518-577-6726.
The show was inspired, in part, by a woman who gave up on politics after the divisive Democratic presidential primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
I’m impressed that he was able to quote Yeats,“The Second Coming” without referring to notes.
This post is a first for the #citizenactive blog. It wasn’t my idea. A fan of the blog reached out to me to suggest that I talk to Michael about his production. If you have ideas, I’m all ears: firstname.lastname@example.org
Michael and I had a lengthy discussion about the state of the world today. I’ll share more of it here tomorrow.
