Based on her 1993 Grammy-winning Christmas album, Good News – Kathy Mattea, the two-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, presents her Christmas concert TV special (Sounds Of The Season With Kathy Mattea) for public television. "It's a presentation of the spiritual side of Christmas, and not so much about the holiday," says Mattea about her annual yuletide concerts. "I gathered songs for about five years before making Good News, and when it came time to pull them all out, I realized they were all about the Nativity. Since then, we've added a couple of traditional tunes, but we use our own arrangements and give them a new point of view. It's such fresh material to most people that each song draws them in a little more, and doing these songs - and the show - puts me more in the Christmas spirit than anything."
