From the Empire State Youth Orchestra: In 2011, Helen Cha-Pyo, ESYO’s Music Director, was invited to bring ESYO’s Youth Orchestra to South Korea to perform at the 2012 World Expo.  That was the impetus for an amazing and unique concert tour in Asia in July 2012.  Videographer and ESYO Board Member Chris White traveled with the orchestra, documenting its journey through China and South Korea, recording sight-seeing excursions, concerts in grand halls in Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, and at the 2012 World Expo in Yeosu, South Korea.  He also filmed ESYO musicians performing for residents of Sorok Island (South Korea) who, as victims of Hansen’s Disease (leprosy), had been isolated on the island for most, if not all, of their lives.  The tour’s last concert: music from home for the soldiers and families stationed at the US Army Base in Seoul.
