Edgar Acevedo is the founder and producing artistic director of the Columbia County Youth Theatre

The Columbia County Youth Theatre, located in Chatham, provides young actors with performing arts skills and training. Edgar Acevedo is the founder and producing artistic director of CCYT. He started the company in 1987. The not-for-profit company serves Columbia County and the neighboring communities in the Capital Region. The company provide a theater experience in the Hudson schools and their Summer Workshop draws children from many different backgrounds. CCYT’s resident directors, choreographers, and vocal instructors are child-centered professionals who ensure that each student’s potential is reached. Working closely together, they determine how to best tap your young actor’s talents.

Rather than cancel this year’s Summer Workshop due to the COVID-19 crisis, the CCYT staff opted to develop their digital muscles and create a robust online experience for participants. CCYT’s experimental approach to the Summer Workshop should not be a surprise. Innovation has been a part of the CCYT story for more than thirty years.
