   Marie joined us at Games in Education because of her genuine interest in gaming. Marie Alcock is the President of Learning System Associates in New Jersey. She shared a fresh and interesting perspective on why students drop out of school. In addition, she discussed the student voice and its vital force in the classroom. She goes into depth about how to engage students with stimulating examples as well. Her detailed advice should definitely be taken to heart.

Candy Dolen

   Candy Dolen, an experienced science teacher, shares her perspective on why kids drop out of school. She makes it clear that teaching is a tough but rewarding job. She advises teachers to work as a team in order to tackle obstacles that may arise in the classroom. With every answer, Candy’s enthusiasm for teaching is truly inspiring.

   Michael Gerrish is a retired art teacher who now works with other teachers as a consultant. With a clear passion for teaching and art, Michael encourages the same enthusiasm among his students, teachers and community. He shares insightful and fascinating information on how to achieve a student-centered organization in order to keep students involved and improve graduation rates. Michael divulges fascinating information about how Art is a paramount and thought evoking subject that is truly influential to his students.

   Kelly Schermerhorn came to Games in Education to find out more about how games can be incorporated in the learning environment. Coming from a background at Questar III BOCES, Kelly stresses the need of support not just from parents but from the community and fellow peers. In addition, Kelly shares knowledge about education to help prepare first year teachers.
